I think driving a scooter increases the value of your trip. That is, you get more out of the distance traveled (provided you drive safe, which I know you do) because you better appreciate what you’d normally pass up in a car. With bicycles, you get even more value, and with walking, the most.
C.S. Lewis said that cars “deflower the very idea of distance.” They keep us from enjoying the details of the scenery we very quickly pass by.
